Since the age of eleven, I knew—I wanted to be an artist. Nature called to me, and creativity was my refuge. I would spend hours outside, sketching, painting, and absorbing the world’s quiet beauty, even when my own world felt anything but peaceful. Growing up in poverty and abuse, art became my way of creating something different: a world filled with love, beauty, and healing.

Despite the odds, I pursued an art degree, determined to carve my own path. But graduating in 2009 in a small rural town, where art opportunities were scarce, meant I had to build my own way forward. While working a part-time management job, I started my first business—an experience that taught me resilience, grit, and the power of persistence. That journey eventually led me to Colorado, where I could finally embrace my dream of becoming a full-time artist and launching Tricia Makes Art.

My art is about more than paint on canvas. I want people to feel something—like they could step into my work and be transported. I capture light, color, and texture in a way that evokes awe, peace, and nostalgia, much like standing before a breathtaking sunset in the mountains. Whether working with oil, acrylic, palette knives, or even my hands, I aim to create pieces that make you feel.

Travel fuels my soul and my creativity. I love places of natural wonder—the vast ocean, towering mountains, cascading waterfalls—experiencing them, recording them, and then bringing them to life on canvas. These places inspire my art, but more importantly, they inspire the emotions I hope to evoke in others: wonder, serenity, and a deep connection to something greater.

Ultimately, my goal is more than personal success. Tricia Makes Art is a legacy—a testament to the transformative power of art and the strength of women creatives. My journey has been one of healing, strength, and beauty, and through my work, I hope to share that journey with others. I want my art to stand as a reminder: that even in the face of immense hardship, there is light, there is beauty, and there is always a way forward.
